New Jersey Improving Preventive Services Project

A project designed to assist primary care practices in making evidence-based changes to improve the delivery of immunizations and immunization registries, while also building the participating states’ capacity to execute future quality improvement programs.

Status: Complete

October 2003 to December 2004

  • Who: The collaborative involved more than a dozen practices from New Jersey.
  • Funder: This project was funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and was in partnership with the New Jersey chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics, the Pediatric Council on Research & Education and the New Jersey Department of Health and Senior Services.
  • Our Role: Led a Breakthrough Series learning collaborative to apply quality improvement methodology to immunization services. Provided an environment for rapid-cycle testing and the robust exchange of ideas with the support of world-class medical and quality improvement experts. Improved access and function of the statewide immunization registry.
