Achieving our vision where every child achieves their optimal health is hard work. At the National Institute for Children’s Health Quality, we partner with families and communities, hospital systems, and local, state, and federal public health agencies to improve maternal and child health and reduce disparities in health outcomes.
By building partnerships, encouraging collaboration, and providing data-driven evaluation services and technical assistance, NICHQ supports those who impact the systems underlying children’s health. We know that when we work in close partnership with patients, families, and their communities to drive change, realizing better health outcomes for all children is even more possible.

Capacity-Building, Training, & Technical Assistance
Our staff provide consulting, training, and technical assistance that is tailored specifically to the needs and interests of our partners and program participants. With the support of faculty and subject matter experts, we lead initiatives of all sizes and scales. From local community-based efforts to state, regional, and national initiatives, we bring the tools, training, and technical assistance to meet our partners where they are and build their capacity to achieve sustainable change and meaningful impact.
Research, Data, & Evaluation Services
Our decisions and actions are driven by data and informed by the evidence. With expertise in qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods approaches, we design and implement rigorous research, and evaluation approaches to capture measurable changes and impactful progress. In addition, NICHQ has an exclusive platform, the Community, Research, and Analytics Lab (CORAL), for tracking team performance and facilitating collaboration, specially designed to enhance and strengthen system improvement efforts.
Change Management, Quality Improvement, & Implementation Science
NICHQ utilizes a variety of change management tools and frameworks to facilitate sustainable and impactful systems change, including quality improvement and implementation science. Our staff and expert faculty are available to consult on quality improvement and implementation science initiatives, including expert design and facilitation of Breakthrough Series Learning Collaboratives. NICHQ staff and our cadre of renowned faculty and subject matter experts facilitate collaboration across sectors and disciplines. Our project partners include community-based organizations, families, health departments, hospitals, and local, state, and federal agencies who serve children and their families.
