Department of Applied Research and Evaluation
NICHQ’s Department of Applied Research and Evaluation (DARE) utilizes both qualitative and quantitative research methods to generate insights that inform child and family health programming and contribute to generalizable public health research.
About DARE
DARE serves as an integral component of the organization’s vision to ensure that every child achieves optimal health. DARE staff are embedded throughout many of NICHQ’s projects to ensure effective monitoring and evaluation as well as measurement of programmatic impact.
More specifically, DARE aims to carry out the following goals:
Critical to DARE’s daily work are the values of equity, integrity, respect, and collaboration.
Equity: As a department, DARE recognizes that ensuring that every child achieves optimal health requires us to proactively consider factors that go beyond the medical care they receive, including structural racism and other social determinants of health.
Integrity: We believe that research and evaluation must be done with integrity, in the collection, analysis and interpretation of the data.
Respect: We provide an environment for team members and partners that is welcoming and respectful of everyone’s expertise and opinions.
Collaboration: Evaluation is a truly collaborative effort and should be integrated fully into the program from the beginning. All voices in a project are important and lend value to the outcomes of a project.
