Building QI Capability

Who

NICHQ will develop a quality improvement (QI) community of learning (COL) for ACOG and for the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) program. The AIM program leads work to develop and implement Patient Safety Bundles (PSBs), standardized frameworks that are designed to address the leading causes of preventable maternal mortality and morbidity.

Our Role

NICHQ’s role in this project will be multi-faceted. We will engage improvement advisors, diverse subject matter experts, and PQCs, who have had experience and success in implementing change packages for patient safety bundles; to educate and support PQCs and their clinical partners in deploying the identified change packages in their state through a community of learning; host virtual webinar series (with recording made available) focused on education around foundational QI methodology; support participating teams to invite patient and family representatives to participate on QI teams to improve patient experience and outcomes, provide coaching, peer-to-peer sharing opportunities, and other tools and resources through the COL; and connect CoL members with seasoned SMEs or members who have experience with implementing patient safety bundles and change packages to allow for mentorship.

Funder

The project is funded through a grant from the Department of Health and Human Services, Health Resources and Services Administration’s (HRSA) Alliance for Innovation on Maternal Health (AIM) program.
