Trusted Spaces & Healing
Ensuring ALL Communities Have Access to Mental Health Support

Named after author, journalist, teacher, and advocate Bebe Moore Campbell, National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month aims to bring attention to the unique mental health experiences of marginalized communities. Mental health includes psychological, emotional, and social well-being. Some barriers to mental health care include:
- Treatment gaps
- Insurance and cost barriers
- Provider shortages
- Cultural differences
- Stigma and social barriers
- Fragmented care
Although people of all backgrounds face mental health challenges, certain communities are more prone to disparate health outcomes due to limited access to support. Black, Indigenous, Latino, Asian American and Pacific Islander, Arab American, LGBTQ+, rural, and women’s communities are among the most impacted by these care gaps.
