NICHQ Welcomes Two New Board Members

NICHQ recently added two new members to its board of directors. Cristin Lind and Scott O’Gorman both bring a passion for ensuring access to quality healthcare and services for underserved populations.

Cristin Lind
Cristin Lind
As a parent of a child with special healthcare needs, Lind has become a strong advocate for quality healthcare and education for all families. She serves in various leadership roles with the Children’s Healthcare Quality Coalition and Mass Family Voices, a project of the Federation for Children with Special Needs. She also serves as family faculty for NICHQ’s CHIPRA Massachusetts Medical Home Initiative. She supports family and patient involvement for 13 practice improvement teams in patient-centered medical home transformation projects at Cambridge Health Alliance, a community-based health system affiliated with Harvard Medical School. In addition, she is also developing and testing tools to support family-driven pediatric care coordination. Lind blogs regularly about the experience of raising a child with special needs and partnering with professionals for systems change at Durga's Toolbox.

Scott O'Gorman

O’Gorman is president of Boston Medical Center HealthNet Plan (BMCHP), a managed care organization. He is responsible for leading the company’s overall strategy, managing day-to-day operations and developing programs and services to meet the needs of new and emerging markets. With 15 years of experience in Massachusetts, BMCHP – under O’Gorman’s leadership – is expanding that mission into New Hampshire during 2013. Before becoming president, he served as chief financial officer and interim executive director. Prior to joining BMCHP, O’Gorman worked in chief financial officer roles at Neighborhood Health Plan of Rhode Island, DentaQuest Ventures and Delta Dental Plan of Massachusetts, and as a consultant with Mercer Management Consulting in its financial services division.

“Cristin and Scott each bring critical perspectives, experiences and skills that will help advance NICHQ's mission. I am particularly excited that through their guidance we will be better able to make sure families remain at the center of care and that advancing health equity remains a core focus of our efforts,” says NICHQ President and CEO Charlie Homer, MD, MPH. “We are thrilled to bring these outstanding leaders onto our board of directors.”
