NICHQ Names Two New Executive Team Leaders

Judith Gooding has joined NICHQ as the Chief Operating Officer and Katherine Flaherty, ScD, has been named Vice President of Development. The two join NICHQ’s executive team, alongside NICHQ CEO Scott D. Berns, MD, MPH, FAAP, and will provide guidance and oversight to NICHQ’s business development, communications, finance, operations and programs departments.

Gooding joins NICHQ from the March of Dimes Foundation where she most recently served as Vice President of Signature Programs. She was responsible for leading and scaling programs such as NICU Family Support®, Healthy Babies are Worth the Wait®, Share Your Story online community, and Mom & Baby Mobile Health Centers®. Since joining the March of Dimes in 1987, Gooding held leadership positions in Marketing and Communications, the Office of the President and the Office of the Medical Director, where she co-led the National Folic Acid Campaign with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Gooding also has held leadership positions with the Fresh Air Fund and United Way, and has provided nonprofit management consulting in board development, strategic planning and grant management for improved community impact. Flaherty has more than 25 years of experience in public health development and management, research and evaluation in a number of healthcare and consulting organizations, including Abt Associates, Partners HealthCare System and the Massachusetts Department of Public Health. She has worked with Federal agencies such as the Agency for HealthCare Research and Quality, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention and the Health Resources and Services Administration. Her areas of experience and expertise include: perinatal and child health, Medicaid, health equity, patient safety and quality of care, primary care and women’s health. (Read a full bio.)
