Awareness and Access to Care for Children and Youth with Epilepsy
WHAT: A project to improve access to comprehensive, coordinated healthcare and related services for children with epilepsy in medically underserved areas.
WHO: The project engaged eight teams from California, the District of Columbia, Illinois, Mississippi, New Jersey, Oregon, West Virginia and Wisconsin.
WHEN: September 2004 to September 2008
FUNDER: The project was funded by the US Department of Health and Human Services Administration (HHS), Maternal and Child Health Bureau (MCHB) and conducted in partnership with the Epilepsy Foundation.
OUR ROLE: Facilitated a Breakthrough Series learning collaborative to apply quality improvement methodology to identify areas in need of improvement in the overall healthcare system for children with epilepsy. Developed a change package that leads to improvement.
